Specialized techniques included:
Cupping: A small plastic cup is applied to the restricted soft tissue with suction. The suction “lifts” the tissue, allowing for improved blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage(IASTM): This is a great technique for releasing scar tissue and fascial restrictions. Rather than using their hands, the therapist uses a blunt edged instrument against the patient’s skin to achieve results.
Joint mobilizations: A therapist applies force to a hypomobile (aka, “stiff”) joint to improve mobility and decrease pain.
Neuromuscular Re-education: This involves retraining the way you move to reduce pain and improve function.
Self Care: Arguably the most important component of physical therapy, our therapists will educate you how to manage your symptoms and if possible make changes to avoid re-injury.
